Gone are the days...

so last night as we were sitting on the couch getting ready to calm down and go to bed.  Tyler was playing with Tommy Boy and noticed (what I've noticed a long time before) that his front teeth are starting to go a little bucky.  So we decided right then and there that it's time to say goodbye to the bink.  I had planned on doing it when he was two and since that is fast approaching, well we thought why wait?

{Note: the flipping off of the middle finger, Kristy we are also teaching our kids early} His "Normal" routine was get his baba AND binky at the same time.  Lie on the couch in the same spot and down the baba then toss it to the side and insert binky.

We've only been giving it to him at sleeping times and church (to keep him quite and happy).  But last night Tyler just told him that the binky went bye bye.  It was a little hard getting him to fall back to sleep in the middle of the night.  He woke a couple of times whining for awhile, but I was able to rock him back to bed and he did ok.  Not great, just ok.  The main problem is that usually he falls asleep on the couch with Tyler then I take him and put him into his crib.  He usually stays asleep during this process but last night was out of routine without the binky so he woke right up(wanting the bink, of course).  Anyway, I tried to wait in the room for him to fall back to sleep but I was a bit impatient and just wanted to get some sleep myself, so he ended up in our bed ALL night.  Bummer!  This usually happens around 3 or so but I was tired.  Anyway, I'm afraid I'm going to need to spend some serious time letting him scream himself to sleep in his crib.  No binky and no Mommy.  That'll be a tough week!  Anyway, wish me luck in keeping with it.  Last night I almost gave in and just let him have the bink so he'd go back to sleep.  I hope I can keep my cool and not give in.

So Bye, Bye Binky.  I'll miss you most of all!

You can do it....you can do it....you can do it.....just repeat this a million times while he is screaming! Another option....play some soft soothing music in his room and drown it out in your room with music as well. I know this is a tough age but I also know you NEED your sleep! Good luck!

EEKKKK!! Good luck! I hate to hear a child cry. It almost breaks my heart. But i guess you have be made of stronger stuff than that to be a mom. Stay strong!

BTW, how was the birthday shindig? Great fun? :)

Good luck! Our pediatrician told us to cut the binky in half long ways. I felt so bad cutting it in half that I actually gave her another one to make up for it. That didn't work for us too well but it must work for some people.

Ooh tough one. You almost have to prepare yourself more for that I think. Call super nanny and see if she can come over for awhile. That's the one thing we're hanging onto here and I really don't want to let it go either, mostly for my own sanity.

It will be good for him to learn to put himself back to sleep so he knows how to do it when the new baby comes along. Good luck!

Jaxon's teeth are beyond repair from his "paci" We are just hoping when the baby teeth fall out the new set are more normal. We told me we are sending all his paci's to Heavenly Father tied to balloons when he turns 3. He doesn't quite know what to do with this information! You're SMART to do it now!!!

i love the flipping off finger! it's a skill at this young of an age. and always leaves me giggling when my little kids do it. not so much when it's the big kids.

we chucked all of our bottles recently, and haven't even had the binky. he wasn't a fan.

he looks way relaxed!
